School House Grant - $35,000 Approved!

The grant applied for by the BOS to restore the Indiantown School House on fairview road was finalized and approved by the State. The much needed $35,000 will be used very soon to replace the dilapidated roof. A bid package is to go out soon for vendors to bid on replacing the roof with new cedar shingles, installing gutters, and basically renewing everything on the school house above the stucco. Any monies left over from the roof replacement project will be used on repairing other exterior wear. It was noted by the engineers who reviewed the current condition of the bell tower that it was in no danger of falling off the roof. This dispelled another rumor spread on our favorite blog.

$35,000 Grant for Indiantown Schoolhouse

The township has received preliminary approval for $35,000 in funding from the state for repairs to the Indiantown Schoolhouse. After routine state verifications the grant should be ready to utilize on much needed repairs to the exterior of the schoolhouse.

Township Eliminates the Property Tax ($771.45 per family)

This past Monday the Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to eliminate the property tax. Yes, you heard it right. Your property tax bill is $0. That is 0 mils. Nada property taxes. With the economy floundering this is good news for Wallace Township residents. As our previous post calculated this will save the average family in Wallace Township $771.45 per year. The budget also includes a $100,000 surplus and sets aside funds to restore the historic Indiantown Schoolhouse.
